Priest King, also known by his native name Chima Kelvin, is shaping a new chapter in global pop. The Australian–Nigerian singer, songwriter, and fashion entrepreneur blends Afrobeat, R&B, funk, and pop into a sound he calls Aro Pop Fusion — a genre grounded in rhythm, emotion, and meaning.
Through his label Oracle XZOUND Empire, Priest King has built a creative identity that connects culture and spirituality. His music reflects his personal journey, balancing African roots with Australian and American influences, resulting in a style that feels global yet deeply individual.
Priest King began making music at just seven years old. Growing up between Nigeria and Australia gave him a dual perspective that shaped his sound and worldview. Influenced by artists like Michael Jackson, Usher Raymond, and Fela Kuti, he learned early on how to blend storytelling with soulful melody. He describes Aro Pop Fusion as “music with frequency” — sound that connects with the listener on an emotional level. “My sound carries the voice of my inner child — raw, pure, and untouched,” he says.
His upcoming EP, set for release in 2025, continues that mission, expanding his exploration of love, identity, and faith through layered production and clear emotional tone.
Priest King’s path began humbly, performing at school events before auditioning for MTN Project Fame, X Factor, Nigerian Idol, and Australian Idol. Those early experiences gave him an understanding of how to balance performance with message. “I want my songs to remind people that there’s beauty in brokenness,” he says — a philosophy that guides both his music and his life.
In 2018, he founded a charity organization supporting children, the elderly, and people with disabilities — a reflection of his belief that art should also serve humanity. That compassion forms the foundation of his broader creative vision, known as The Oracle Sound. Working with producers ADX Beats and Popito On Da Beats, Priest King continues to craft songs that blend rhythm and melody with spiritual influence.
His creative process is highly visual. He often draws inspiration from nature — rain, moonlight, or the ocean — transforming imagery into sound. Most of his recording happens at night, in what he describes as “a place of silence and imagination.”
Beyond music, Priest King is the founder of ZW, a luxury fashion brand under Elysion Empires Pty Ltd. His work in fashion mirrors his sound — modern, cultural, and expressive. On stage, his designs and music merge seamlessly, turning his performances into immersive experiences. “Music and fashion both reflect energy,” he says. “They’re two ways to express who we are.”
Building a career independently hasn’t been easy. Priest King faced the same obstacles many artists encounter — limited support, scarce resources, and creative setbacks. But instead of waiting for opportunities, he built his own. “I had to become the architect of my own empire,” he says, describing how independence allowed him to stay authentic and focused.
His cross-cultural background gives his music a universal quality. It draws from African rhythm, Western pop, and Australian innovation, making it accessible to listeners around the world. “My music represents connection,” he explains. “It’s a bridge between Africa, Australia, and the world.”
As he prepares for the release of his 2025 EP, Priest King’s focus remains steady — growth, mentorship, and purpose. He hopes to guide young artists in finding their sound while understanding the realities of the music industry. His long-term vision is to see Aro Pop Fusion become a globally recognized genre built on authenticity and unity.
“Greatness is not a title,” Priest King says. “It’s a calling.”
